Disgaea RPG, the smartphone app developed and released by both Nippon Ichi Software and Forward Works, has been revealed to return in Fall of this year. The game was first released in March and was taken down almost immediately because of long-term maintenance due to its major server and bug issues.
The announcement was made on the official Disgaea RPG Twitter account. The first tweet reads as follows:

全力で作業に取り組み、進捗については順次ご報告させていただきます。

[To customers] Although Makai Senki Disgaea RPG staff continues to work on server and application renovation, the service is expected to start in autumn 2019. We will do our best with the work and will report on progress as we go along. We apologize deeply for our customers waiting to start [using] the service.
Below that is a second tweet with more information and a commitment to transparency to their user base:

なお、サービス開始までの間、当初サービス開始後に投稿を予定しておりました『魔界戦記ディスガイア』関連の情報発信、及び各種Twitter企画を開始いたします。
これらの情報は、公式Twitterを担当するプリニー課長より、順次ご案内いたします。— 【公式】魔界戦記ディスガイアRPG (@Disgaea_App) May 31, 2019
[To customer 2] Furthermore, until after the service starts, we will continue to post information. We will begin disseminating information related to Disgaea RPG and various other Twitter projects. This information will be announced sequentially by Mr. Pliny, who is in charge of the official Twitter.
Before this announcement, the official Twitter had previously stated they would be accepting inquiries from players to receive refunds for any paid items purchased by March 31st. It is unclear at this time whether NIS will continue to honor those inquiries and any future ones sent to their support email address.
NIS had been suffering from financial woes for quite some time, mainly due to poor sales of their titles in Japan. Japanese site Ha-Navi confirmed that Disgaea RPG is the main cause for this last decline that resulted in the company unable to pay wages. Their dire financials has forced NIS to resort to a MS (Moving Strike) Warrant in order to raise enough money to pay for the development staff’s labor costs.
Considering the high quality of the original Disgaea 5 and its re-release on the Nintendo Switch, it’s a shame that NIS is facing such a difficult time. Hopefully the return of the app will boost their profits and get them back on track.
