This week, Russian indie developer Unfrozen announced on Steam that Iratus: Lord of the Dead, their debut fantasy roleplaying game, will head to Kickstarter on May 2nd for additional funding. While the game is nearly finished, their goal of $10,000 will allow them to finish polishing the game and add possible extra content. They also released a trailer exploring the history of the imprisoned necromancer Iratus.
Unfrozen began working on Iratus: Lord of the Dead back in 2016. It is a tactical dark fantasy game that was heavily inspired by Darkest Dungeon. However, instead of the usual good conquering evil trope found in so many roleplaying games, players will find themselves on the side of evil helping Iratus escape from the dungeon that has held him prisoner for many years.
In the game, players will use their necromantic powers to craft minions from the body parts of their dead enemies and improve their underground lair. They will also utilize their alchemy, magic, and tactical skills to defeat enemies in strategic, turn-based battles.
Iratus: Lord of the Dead is currently in development for PC, Linux, and Mac and is expected to be released in October 2018. The Kickstarter campaign will start on May 2nd. You can check out the trailer featuring Iratus below.
