This news comes after NIS America announced the Danganronpa games will be taken off the PlayStation Store over the next couple of months. The first game in the series to be taken down is Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls on the PlayStation Vita’s store. From there, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will be taken off the Vita store on September 4. Lastly, the PlayStation 4 and Vita versions of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony will leave on September 25. With NIS America taking the games down, it’s possible Spike Chunsoft will republish them on the PlayStation Store as soon as they can.
The series first debuted in 2010 with Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc on the PlayStation Vita. The series has a visual novel style that portrays a group of high school students who find themselves imprisoned in their own school. In addition to several sequels and spin-off games, there’s an anime adaptation that started back in 2013 and ended in 2017. The last game to release in the game series was Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony in 2017.
With this year being the tenth anniversary of the series, we had gotten more news about the series. Firstly, the trilogy released on mobile devices earlier this year. Additionally, producer Yoshinori Terasawa teased future developments in the series back in April.
For the time being, the series is available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita’s stores. Down below, you can watch the tenth-anniversary announcement trailer from Spike Chunsoft. As more news comes out about the future of the series, we’ll be sure to let you know.
