We’re now officially under a week away from the launch of CD Projekt Red’s highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. A first-person RPG that features Keanu Reeves as a key story character. CD Projekt Red has now confirmed when the game will unlock across the world, and also information on when the game can be pre-loaded.
Let’s start with the pre-loading. Customers who have pre-ordered the game digitally on PC will be able to pre-load the game starting from Monday, December 7. If you’ve ordered the game through GOG, you’ll be able to start pre-loading at 12pm CET. For those on Steam and the Epic Games Store, you can start pre-loading at 5pm CET.
For those who have pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles digitally, Xbox orders are available to pre-load as of yesterday, December 3. For PlayStation, pre-loads start “2 days prior to the release date”.
For those on PC and Stadia, it’s detailed that Cyberpunk 2077 will fully unlock simultaneously across the world once the clock strikes 12am GMT on December 10. For those on console, it’ll unlock and be available at midnight whatever your local time zone is.
To help with understanding the simultaneous unlock, CD Projekt Red provided a map as you can see below. So if we’re sticking to US zones, the game will be available to play for PC and Stadia owners from 7pm EST / 4pm PST.
If you’re interested, CD Projekt Red is holding a special Twitter Gaming launch event that takes place on December 9. The studio has also urged players who may be receiving physical copies early to avoid running streams and sharing footage before December 9, 12pm CET. It looks as if those who do will be faced with a DMCA takedown of sorts, with CDPR joking that “MAX-TAC” will go after anyone who does.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be launching on December 10 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, PS5, and Google Stadia. Planned DLC and story expansions for the game are due to be announced next year. If you’re still yet to pick the game up, you can pre-order it on your preferred platform on Amazon.
