What’s it like to work at CDPR? It’s hard to deny that the work anniversary gifts are pretty sweet. In a new post from rockstar developer CD Projekt Red, we get a rare glimpse into some of the anniversary rewards for employees — this time including a Cyberpunk 2077 themed guitars and leather jackets.
News comes by way of the official CD Projekt Red LinkedIn page, where the developer announced they were celebrating some significant milestones for the team. As usual for the CDPR team, these come with amazing over-the-top gifts themed to the current game they are working on — in this instance, Cyberpunk 2077.
As seen in the gallery below, it looks like there is a musical bent to these awards — right off of Johnny Silverhand’s tour truck. Each sporting a completely different aesthetic, the guitars and cases showcase how long the employees have been with the company:
Also included is the retro-futuristic leather jackets that have become so iconic in much of the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay we’ve seen so far.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been dominating the news cycle lately for a ton of reasons, most notably the recently revealed delay that has pushed the release date to September 2020. While many in the industry are bemoaning how this will directly CD Projekt Red employees when it comes to ‘industry crunch,’ many of the most notable CDPR employees have been hyping up the community saying that the delay “will be worth it.” This delay will likely also be impacting the multiplayer mode, which is currently slated for sometime after 2021.
Of course, the recent news hasn’t hampered the spirits of the ever-growing fanbase of gamers. Some have been using the lead up time to make impressive demake ideas of what a PS1 version of the game case might look like. Others have been more creatively merging CD Projekt Red’s property with cosplay, including a mashup of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher.
As mentioned above, Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on September 17, 2020 for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One and you can pre-order the physical version over on Amazon to support the site. For a full rundown of the development timeline to date, make sure to check out the DualShockers rundown.
