Crytek’s Crysis series hasn’t been heard from since the launch of Crysis 3 all the way back in 2013, but it seems like that could soon be changing.

This morning, the official Crysis Twitter account popped back up and tweeted out an odd message that looks to be teasing something. “Receiving data,” was the only thing that the Crysis account wrote. It’s also worth noting that this is the first time since 2016 that the Crysis Twitter account has been utilized, which seems to point towards something involving the franchise soon coming about.

Obviously, whenever something like this happens, the most obvious conclusion would be to assume that a new game announcement of some sort is incoming. In my own estimation, it seems as though a fourth entry in the Crysis franchise wouldn’t be out of the question. Crytek’s most recent project has been that of Hunt: Showdown, which is a multiplayer first-person shooter. While work on Hunt: Showdown continues via new updates, perhaps another part of Crytek’s team has already begun work on a new entry in the Crysis series.

Of course, there’s also the possibility that a Crysis remaster could be coming to current generation platforms, too. In this age where new remasters are seemingly coming about all the time, seeing Crysis landing on modern consoles wouldn’t be too shocking at all.

So what do you think that this tweet could be indicating? Are we set to get a full-blown new Crysis game, or will this end up being something else? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.

If there are any announcements regarding Crysis in the near future, we’ll obviously keep you posted here on DualShockers.
