The ongoing story of Crysis Remastered’s release continues to get even more bizarre.
After delaying the touched-up iteration of the classic shooter last week due to fan dissatisfaction with the game’s look, Crytek has today announced that it will be moving forward with the launch of Crysis Remastered later this month after all – on one platform, at least. Yes, the Nintendo Switch version of Crysis Remastered is still slated to arrive a little less than two weeks from today on July 23.
As for the reason why Crytek has opted to continue on with the release of the game on Switch, well, it stands to reason that this iteration of the title doesn’t need a whole lot of work to be done to it. While fans were disappointed by how the remaster looked on platforms like PC, PS4, and Xbox One, the Switch only has so much power in the first place. As such, it’s expected that Crysis is going to look worse by comparison on the platform. Prospective buyers know to expect this, too, which is why it isn’t as big of a deal.

For those on Switch who were interested in picking up Crysis though, this earlier release is surely a nice thing to look forward to. Previously, Crysis as a series has appeared on Xbox, PlayStation, and of course, PC, but the franchise has never come to a Nintendo platform until now. If you’re someone who only ever buys Nintendo consoles, this will be your first attempt to ever give Crysis a shot.
When it comes to a status update on the versions of Crysis Remastered outside of the Switch, Crytek had nothing new to share today. That being said, it shouldn’t be too long before we start to learn more, given that the game’s indefinite delay sounded like it wouldn’t be a lengthy one. Stay tuned in the coming days and weeks as we’ll surely begin to hear more.
