As one of the year’s most acclaimed games, Control by developer Remedy Entertainment earned plenty of accolade for its intriguing story and compelling gameplay. The game managed to fair well this year at The Game Awards in terms of nominations, and during the show, we were able to get a glimpse at what Remedy has in store for players through its new DLC and expansions.
During The Game Awards 2019, a trailer debuted for Control‘s new DLC called “Expeditions,” which is out now across consoles and PC. The “Expeditions” DLC is a free update for all players of Control, and adds a new Challenge Mode-style experience where players take on a series of challenges as Jesse Faden to test their skills. Specifically, “Expeditions” is “a combat-focused, timed game mode” where players will experiment with different skills, character builds, and loadouts and try to outlast enemies in the Hiss-infected sections of the Black Rock Quarry Threshold.
In addition to the “Expeditions” DLC, the very end of the new trailer also gave us a quick look at the first proper expansion for Control called “The Foundation.” While it was only a brief tease of what’s to confirm, the trailer confirmed that “The Foundation” will be releasing on March 26, 2020, which is part of the game’s Season Pass.
Personally I still have to finish Control myself (especially with our Game of the Year awards just around the corner), just it’s encouraging to see that players of the game have a lot to look forward to through the game’s DLC and post-release content. Given that Control managed to craft an incredibly interesting and surreal world, I’m excited to see how Remedy manages to build off of what they established in the original game through its DLC.
Control is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and if you have yet to jump into the game for yourself, you can pick it up on Amazon right now. For a closer look at the Expeditions DLC and the game’s first expansion, you can check out the trailer below:
