Coming from the studio that gave us action-packed thrillers like the Max Payne series and Alan Wake, the upcoming Control from Remedy Entertainment is among the most anticipated games to arrive later this year, and in some newly-released footage, we can already see it will be a graphical powerhouse thanks to its inclusion of Nvidia’s ray tracing tech behind it.
Remedy has released a new trailer for Control from GDC 2019, with the trailer specifically highlighting that the game will feature support for GeForce RTX’s real-time ray tracing to give some added depth and immersion to its visuals.
For those unfamiliar with the technology from Nvidia, ray tracing is the developing graphical technology that realistically simulates the way that light interacts with various environments and objects. Naturally, this is an extremely-demanding process for the majority of PC rigs (other than those touting Nvidia’s new line of GeForce RTX graphics cards), and only a few recent game releases have included support for it, such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Metro Exodus.
However, ray tracing takes front and center in the latest trailer for Control, and in the video you can get an idea of how Remedy’s upcoming title will utilize the technology to make the game’s environments feel even more lifelife. However, it is important to note that Remedy said that what is shown in the video is a “work in progress,” so the footage itself may differ compared to what we might see in the final game’s release.
