Today has been quite exciting for Catherine fans as Catherine Classic has just been released on PC. Unfortunately, we also learned today that once Catherine: Full Body makes its way west, we won’t be able to play the game on PS Vita according to the game’s website.

As many of you probably know, Catherine: Full Body will be releasing for both PS4 and PS Vita in Japan on February 14 so many were hoping that the game would still see a western release on Sony’s underdog handheld. While the system does have its fans, it’s no secret that the PS Vita really failed to catch on in the west, leading to the system underperforming. While western developers all but abandoned the system, many Japanese developers like Marvelous, Kadokawa Games, and Atlus continued to support the system.

That being said, now that the system is being discontinued and cartridges are ceasing production, more and more Japanese developers have stopped supporting the system in North America and Europe where it already wasn’t super popular. Apparently, Atlus is also winding down PS Vita support in the west as the official Catherine site has been updated to only list PS4 in regards to Catherine: Full Body’s western release. The following tweet from Atlus also lists PS4 as the only platform:

While this is disappointing, the PS Vita is not region-locked so die hard fans will still be able to play the Japanese version of Catherine: Full Body by creating a Japanese PSN account and having a specific memory card for Japanese PSN games. If that’s too much of a hassle for you, you can just pick up Catherine Classic right now on PC via Humble Bundle or wait for the western release on PS4 that will be happening “soon” according to Atlus.
