Joking aside, Captain Tsubasa looks like a great time. It’s obvious nothing like the two giants in the virtual soccer space, but that might be a good thing. The anime style and over-the-top arcade action unquestionably make it stand out from the crowd. Speaking of standing out, in addition to the release date, the new trailer shows off the special editions. This might be the first Collector’s Edition I ever buy.
Not counting the standard edition, there are at least two versions you can pre-order now. The Collector’s Edition includes a host of fun content. There are a great-looking artboard and a Tsubasa Ozora statue in his All Japan Youth colors. Plus, a few standard special edition items like a steelbook, character pass, and season pass unlocks. The pre-order edition includes a collection of in-game uniforms to switch up your player’s style. The Collector’s Edition also mentions that you’ll get an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, but I can’t find a description for that edition. Either it’s a typo or another edition will be announced soon.
Regardless, the best news is that Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions launches on August 28 on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4. If you’re interested, the game is available now for pre-ordering, which gets you all of those classic Captain Tsubasa uniforms. And, if you just can’t wait, be sure to check out the Japanese version of the commercial below. The music rips.
