Here I was thinking the other day, wow, 100 GB sure is a lot when I was downloading a game. I wonder how long it is going to take for games to reach 200 GB? Modern Warfare just said to hold their Beer.
A new update just hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare a couple of days ago that brings in 200 player Warzone matches. However, it also pushes the game over 200 GB on PC too.
After the update, the Reddit user vanillaricethrowaway posted the file size of the game on their machine. The file was a whopping 209 GB. Ian Boudreau over at PC GamesN wanted to verify the size on his machine. He found that the size was even bigger and was sitting at 235 GB on his older hard drive.
I know games are getting bigger. That is just the natural progression of technology. But this seems to just be excessive. Gamers who own original PS4 and Xbox ones have half of their storage taken up already just by installing one game. It is just ridiculous. I think at some point Infinity Ward and Activision will have to allow players to separately download Modern Warfare and Warzone. I am not sure why that already isn’t an option.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Call of Duty: Warzone is also available for those platforms for free.
