Following the reveal of the first official gameplay footage for Borderlands 3, additional ancillary details about the game have started to come out. One of those such details, in regards to the game’s potential length, has now been unveiled.
Speaking to PC Gamer, Gearbox’s creative director Paul Sage says that Borderlands 3 will last about 30 hours, but that’s only if you focus on completing the main story as fast as possible. “If you beeline it through, and I mean beelining it through, it might take you 30 hours to complete the main story,” Sage said of the game’s length.
According to the average completion playtime on How Long to Beat, a website that tracks game lengths, this estimate is roughly in line with that of Borderlands 2. So if you were at all concerned that Borderlands 3 might not have as much content as the previous game, you shouldn’t have to worry about that any longer. Gearbox has very loudly stated that Borderlands 3 will be the largest and most ambitious game in the franchise so far, so it should surely keep your time and attention for quite a while after launch.
If you’re looking to read a more opinionated look at Borderlands 3, you should also be sure to read our recent preview of the game. We were able to go hands-on with it earlier this week and it won over one of our writers despite them not being the biggest fan of the franchise. Whether you’re an existing Borderlands fan or a new only, BL3 seems suited to both audiences.
Borderlands 3 is set to launch later this year on September 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on the Epic Games Store.
