In an update to the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter page Koji Igarashi has announced that the team has made the tough decision to no longer support a Mac and Linux version of the game on PC.

We have made this tough decision due to challenges of supporting middleware and online feature support and making sure we deliver on the rest of the scope for the game.

Those who are backers of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and did so for a Mac or Linux version can reach out to the team in order to switch platforms though outright refunds are not mentioned.

Separately, development of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has “reached its peak” and they are currently testing performance on each platform. Enemy placement is complete and progression-blocking bugs are the main focus right now.

Commenting on some photos of the developers working Iga states, “It doesn’t look like we are in a crunch period, does it? But we actually work quietly like this most of the time.” and that Wayforward has helped them greatly in the run up to release. Wayforward joined development for Bloodstained in late November to focus on bug fixing. Iga also shares concept art for the enemy Forneaus, a demon fish. Senior Community Manager Jason Ryan gets the last word in stating that there is still “a huge amount of work had to be completed.” they are still aiming towards a 2019 launch. This is also not the first time a version of Bloodstained has been cancelled as the previously announced Vita version was cancelled alongside the announcement of the game being delayed to 2019.

Despite this cancellation of Mac and Linux versions, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will still be coming to Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One whenever releases in 2019.
