Arc System Works announced today on Twitter that BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will receive its 1.5 update this May. The update will add the multiple new characters recently revealed with a trailer. The update will also include balance adjustments, which will be made to the arcade version as well, synchronizing the two versions. The actual release date of the update will be published later.
The four new fighters who will be added are Seth from Under Night In-Birth, Teddy from Persona 4 Arena, Naoto Kurogane from BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and last but not least Heart Aino from Arcana Hearts 3, a brand new franchise joining the fray.
While nothing is official yet, there’s bound to be more Arcana Heart girls joining the cast in the future. Arcana Heart 3 is the last game in the series but was released in Japan in 2011, with its last update released in 2014 , so it’s nice to see it again. The game was also released worldwide on Steam in December 2017 after a Kickstarter. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is a great idea in how it allows many niches among niche fighting games like these to get a second life, so it would be great to see Arc System Works capitalizing on it.
Videos showing the new characters’ moves are being published by Arcsys. The last one focused on Seth, and the new one detailing Heart’s moveset and abilities can be found below.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is available on Arcade, PC via Steam, PS4, and Switch. The game will also be featured at Evo 2019 this August.
