2K Sports released a new trailer today for the upcoming release of NBA 2K19 that announced longtime sports analyst Bill Simmons will be joining the broadcast crew this year.
For those unfamiliar with Bill Simmon–also known as The Sports Guy–he is a writer, podcaster, and analyst that has previously worked at ESPN, Grantland, and now currently heads the sports and culture website The Ringer. Simmons has always been known for his laid-back tone and ability to view sports through that of a fan’s perspective. He also has extensive expertise in basketball and previously worked on ESPN’s NBA Countdown program in addition to writing a nearly 800-page book titled “The Book of Basketball.”
NBA 2K19’s new trailer shows Simmons and the game’s play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan as they record voiceover that will be used in the game. We also see a fair amount of new gameplay footage in addition to learning that both former players Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant will be returning as broadcasters in NBA 2K19 as well. It’s actually pretty cool to see some behind-the-scenes footage of just how they record the commentator sessions for these games.
The latest trailer for NBA 2K19 is attached below if you want to hear more from Simmons, Harlan, Bryant, and Garnett. The game is due out in just a few short weeks on September 11 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. If you’d like to pre-order a copy ahead of then, you can do so over on Amazon right now.
