Today Bandai Namco announced its financial results for the fiscal year ended on March 31st, 2018.
As you can see in the table below, both sales and profit showcased growth year-on-year.
On top of this, the publisher achieved better-than-expected results compared to the latest forecast. According to the press release, this is partly due to the fact that sales of new and catalog video games exceeded expectations mainly in North America and Europe.
The press release also reiterated the previously-announced “CHANGE for the NEXT: Empower, Gain Momentum, and Accelerate Evolution“ business strategy to promote the creation of new IP, and expanding targets and business opportunities. The publisher also worked on evolving IP from overseas.
Both console video games and mobile apps performed “strongly” during the past fiscal year, as well as products belonging to mainstay IP. This caused both sales and operating income to reach a record-high level.
Specifically about the Network Entertainment business, which includes games, mobile games continue to be profitable both in Japan and worldwide. In the field of home console games, Tekken 7 and DragonBall FighterZ proved to be popular mainly in western regions.
If you’re not familiar with Dragon Ball FighterZ, you can read our review of the game. If you have not purchased it just yet, and you want a really good fighting game, you grab it on Amazon.
