Announced back in 2018, Babylon’s Fall, one of the titles currently in development over at Platinum Games, has been out of the news recently. The last time we saw the game was last December, when it dropped its first trailer and hinted at more information being revealed this summer. Well, here we are, but this certainly isn’t the reveal we were expecting.
A message posted to the official Babylon’s Fall Twitter account has revealed that work on the game is continuing, although with the development team now working from home. That may not be all that shocking, as it’s a course of action developers world-wide have opted towards. However, working from home is apparently hindering the game somewhat, as there may no longer be an info drop coming this season. “While we hoped to reveal more about the game this summer, we can share that development on Babylon’s Fall is continuing to progress well” reads the message.

Sorry to say, but this likely means that we won’t be getting any new information on this title in the next couple of months due to this work from home policy. In all, the Babylon’s Fall development team can’t be blamed for instituting this policy. Assuming the team is working out of the Platinum Games headquarters, located in Osaka, Japan, there’s plenty of reason to be cautious. Cases of Covid-19 in the country, although much lower than they have been since spiking in April, are once again on the rise. The ongoing pandemic has been cited by multiple game development studios as the rationale behind a work from home policy.
Unfortunately, this news casts greater doubts on any speculation that Babylon’s Fall might be releasing this summer. Although with the next generation of consoles fast approaching and no word of the game making its way to those consoles, a release date sooner rather than later should be expected. Babylon’s Fall will be releasing on PS4 and PC via Steam.
