While it was a fairly short broadcast, the second PlayStation State of Play broadcast managed to pack in a solid number of reveals during its 10-minute runtime, headlined by the long-awaited new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake and the confirmation that we’ll be getting the upcoming MediEvil remake this fall. However, one of the more interesting announcements to come out of the broadcast was an upcoming title that manages to capture the feel of a nature documentary, called Away: The Survival Series.
During today’s PlayStation State of Play stream, Away: The Survival Series was shown with a new trailer and confirmed to be coming to PS4, as the game has previously been in development for PC.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Away: The Survival Series is an adventure game that aims to take players into an immersive, realistic depiction of nature and the environment. Players will take on the role of a sugar glider as they embark on a journey across numerous different ecosystems.
In an accompanying post on the PlayStation Blog, the development team at Breaking Walls took much of the inspiration behind Away from nature documentaries. From the footage that aired during State of Play, it’s easy to see that Away feels in a lot of ways like a playable version of Planet Earth, and while no release date was specified for the game just yet, it already seems like it will be an interesting, invigorating experience.
Away: The Survival Series is currently in development for PS4 and PC. For a closer look at the title, you can check out the new trailer that aired during the latest State of Play below:
