Atlus on December 23 launched a new patch for Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne HD Remaster. While the remaster of the legendary PS2 JRPG has yet to release in English, it’s already available in Japan on PS4, and Switch, since October 29, 2020.
However, multiple players noted since launch that the remaster had several gameplay performance issues compared to the original PS2 game. One of the most notable problems being framerate issues. Alongside lag which caused certain menus to take forever to display. Needless to say, this is far from being the first Japanese game launching with issues, and obviously they would get patched at some point. But it did take two months. Better late than never though.
Moreover, a new Skill Inheritance system was added when fusing demons. Players can now manually select which skills to inherit for the Fusion result. This feature was sought after by many, as the Skills being picked randomly would make Fusion quite stressful. It’s nice to see Atlus listened.

The full patch notes mention several bugs have been fixed as well through the update.
Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne HD Remaster will launch sometime in Spring 2021 in the West. Meanwhile, Shin Megami Tensei V, Switch exclusive, will be launching worldwide sometime in 2021. Be sure to check our analysis of the latest SMTV trailer, courtesy of series specialist Allisa James.
