Ubisoft has today announced that Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will launch March 29th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The title had already been confirmed that it would be included with the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass, but now you don’t have to rush out and buy it if you haven’t yet purchased it – even though it’s very good – as now you’ll be able to purchase it separately.
Assassin’s Creed III saw the light of day when it was released back in 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC – those were the days. It was also the fifth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, and also a direct sequel to 2011’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. If you’re looking for a little nostalgia, the trailer actually looks really good. It also shows the comparisons made from then and now – we really have come a long way in gaming development that’s for sure and this trailer truly showcases that.
For those of you who didn’t get the chance to play it seven years ago, Assassin’s Creed III is set within the 18th century that sees the before, during and after the American Revolution which sees protagonist Desmond Miles relive the memories of his ancestor, half-English, half-Mohawk known as Connor, thanks to a machine called Animus.
The Remastered edition will feature 4K and HDR on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC where players will notice higher resolution textures that accompany a new graphics engine and several other graphical enhancements. Ubisoft has stated that gameplay mechanics and ergonomics have also been improved in the remastered version.
When players purchase Assassin’s Creed III Remastered they can expect the full entirety of the game as well as the single-player missions Benedict Arnold and Hidden Secrets, The Tyranny of King Washington and Assassin’s Creed III Liberation Remastered. You can check out the single-player mission details below:
- Tyranny of King Washington: Explore an alternate history where one of America’s greatest heroes, George Washington, succumbs to the temptation of infinite power. The new King is born and his reign leaves no one untouched. Players must return freedom to the land by dethroning the tyrant our hero once called a friend.
- Assassin’s Creed® III Liberation Remastered: Follow Aveline’s story as she battles Spanish forces in the American south to win freedom for her land and people. A woman of conviction, Aveline fights for freedom in 18thcentury New Orleans, a city on the brink of a rebellion as the Spanish Empire imposes its new rule. Embark on an epic journey that will take her from the crowded streets of New Orleans to voodoo-haunted swamps and ancient Mayan ruins.
Back in 2017, we saw Assassin’s Creed III join Xbox Live’s backwards compatibility list – alongside ilomilo, Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond, Shadow Assault/Tenchu, and Shinobi.
Assassin’s Creed III Remastered is available for preorder now as an individual purchase, but if you have the Season Pass for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you’ll be able to download it at no additional charge. You can check out the trailer below and let us know what you think – will you be picking it up?
