BioWare has been doing a great job remaining visible and answering consumer questions, going as far as to hold weekly AMA’s about Anthem. This week, fans gleaned some new information from different members of the community, including re-affirmation of matchmaking, daily quests, and possible widescreen support.
News comes directly from the Twitter accounts of BioWare’s Executive Producer Mark Darrah and Lead Producer Michael Gamble.
When asked whether there will be daily missions, or alternatively log-in rewards, Darrah responded that there will be daily things. However, he did not clarify what specifically:
There will be daily things https://t.co/p5ZelqPbEt

Next up, it appears Gamble–responding back to what his “Anthem moment” of the week was–let slip the official name of the harder tier of missions. According to his Tweet, there will be a Veteran difficulty setting for those looking for a challenge:
At the end of a 4 player stronghold, on veteran difficulty. I was storm and @PWatamaniuk was a colossus. We *barely* survived, due to lucky use of the storms <redacted> ultimate move. https://t.co/HyuO6QLEEB

While it had already been addressed before in other panels, Darrah took a moment to re-affirm that matchmaking will be available for every activity within Anthem. This obviously sets the game apart from the Destiny franchise where matchmaking is only possible in a few end-game activities:

Finally, Darrah couldn’t give a straight answer on whether the game would have ultra-wide monitor support. However, he did note that the game is currently being played on a super wide monitor with no problem in the office:
Not actually positive.@Bio_Warner has been playing it in a super wide monitor no problem https://t.co/C4XPKJevaE

Although the teams push towards transparency should be noted, they aren’t ready to answer every question. Specifically, they didn’t want to go into how many weapons will be available during launch:
not ready to talk about the number, but my favorite is still the colossus chaingun. #moredakka https://t.co/1pFIIRN7bE
— Michael Gamble (@GambleMike) September 17, 2018
Darrah also isn’t ready to talk about social interactivity or bridging the lore together with novels yet:
I’d like to be able to show it before we talk about it. It’s not in a shiwabke state ATM https://t.co/PSkfVaunG4

If you want to learn more about Anthem, you can watch the brand new trailer and screenshots revealed yesterday, and a new video showcasing the dialogue system. You should also check out our preview of the EA Play build of the game. Also, we aren’t entirely convinced of the game’s storytelling potential–though, we are hoping to be wowed when Anthem makes it to store shelves.
The game will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 22nd, 2019. A demo will be released for all platforms on February 1st. You can already pre-order your copy on Amazon.
