Animal Crossing: New Horizon fans got a first look yesterday at what’s in store for them in the latest April update that includes seasonal events, some new visitors and a limited-time tour in what looks like a hedge maze. But really, who needs all this stuff when you have the fantastic musician K.K. Slider taking on some of music’s most noteworthy album covers and adding his own take on them. That is exactly what’s been happening over on Twitter as Animal Crossing fans post pictures of one of the franchise’s most popular characters in some incredible redraws.
K.K. Slider is everyone’s favorite Jack Russell pup and who has appeared in every Animal Crossing title to date, entertaining and putting on a show for players and villagers alike. But what if you could create the laid back doggy musician into your favorite album covers? Given that K.K. Slider has been a part of the franchise for so long, he’s by far one of its best-known and most popular characters so it was only a matter of time before artists put their creative talents to good use and take to Twitter to showcase their K.K. Slider album covers taken from some of the music industries most iconic covers.
As you scroll through the sea of K.K. Slider redraws on Twitter, it’s pretty hard to choose a favorite given that they’re all brilliantly done and some hilariously reworked but some of the album covers that stand out is Bruce Springsteen’s Darkness on the edge of town, Fleetwood Mac Rumors, Prince’s Purple Rain, Nirvana’s Nevermind, David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane, Evanescence Fallen, and My Chemical Romance. The K.K Slider album art challenge seemed to have first appeared on TikTok from user @annqell, who had posted a video at the start of the month challenging artists to redraw their favorite album featuring the canine musician himself. As many things tend to do, it then found its way over to Twitter and the rest is history. The challenge looks to be getting stronger with each passing moment with more and more artists wanting to recreate their take on an album that they love but with a twist.

It’s not a surprise to see Animal Crossing: New Horizon dominating sales. According to a market research team called The NPD Group, New Horizons grabbed the number one spot from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Sales for the year, however, still go to Call of Duty, although New Horizons is now in the number two spot on that list. This data still leaves the latest Animal Crossing title as not only the best-selling in franchise history but the third best launch of a Nintendo game in America, only behind Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Ultimate.
DualShockers Staff Writer Otto Kratky recently wrote about his experience in Animal Crossing: New Horizon and how they coped with the insecurity they felt while playing it and how he felt endlessly concerned about how his island looked in comparison to everyone else’s. It’s a really excellent read and you can check it out here.
Animal Crossing launched on the Nintendo Switch on March 20 so if you still haven’t had the chance to jump in, don’t worry as you can pick up your copy right here.
