It has been over two years since Microsoft announced that it would be working on Age of Empires 4, but since that time, pretty much no news on the project has come about. Fortunately, it seems as though this silence will finally be ending tomorrow during the publisher’s X019 event in London.
In a new tweet from Microsoft GM Aaron Greenberg, it was teased that new on Age of Empires 4 will seemingly come about tomorrow. Greenberg didn’t explicitly state that Age of Empires 4 will be shown during the X019 edition of Inside Xbox, but his caption on the tweet which stated “A new Age is upon us at #X019” doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Greenberg also shared a GIF which is likely from a trailer for AoE4 that will be appearing tomorrow. It seems like gameplay footage of some sorts is likely in the cards to be shown during the presentation, if I had to guess.

This planned reveal for Age of Empires 4 comes on the same day that Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will be releasing. As such, it makes sense that Microsoft would now opt to reveal more of AoE4 to continue drumming up excitement for the series.
