It has been known for quite some time that A Hat in Time was going to make its way over to the Nintendo Switch, even though, previously, Gears for Breakfast very bluntly stated that they would not bring the game to the console. Last week, Nintendo showcased a Direct after going quite some time without one. This Direct came and went without any news for an inevitable Switch port. Or, so we thought.
As noted by the Reddit user u/BrineBlade, A Hat in Time was actually shown off during the Japanese Direct with a Spring release date. You can see in the screenshot below a screen grab of the video.
Another Reddit user (u/AwesomePahsome) noted that 春 means Spring. If you do not believe me, you can give it a quick google translate and see for yourself.
The game didn’t reinvent the wheel when it comes to 3D platformers, but the charming and whimsical nature of the game has had me vehemently interest for quite some time. On top of that, I am a little surprised that the game is still coming to the Switch after the hostile outlash Gears for Breakfast received after previously stating they were not porting the game. I am sure those were just a few outliers in the comment section of Twitter though.
I am happy to see that A Hat in Time is finally making its way to the Switch. I know that many players have been waiting for the port to finally experience the game. Those players include myself. There are just so many great titles out right now that I would like to play through first. However, I always play on my Switch for about 30 minutes to an hour before I go to sleep, so I am looking forward to completing this game from the comfort of my bed.
A Hat in Time is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
