Last week, NIS America announced that Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain will be coming west as Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk.
If you’re not familiar with the title, Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk is a dungeon crawler RPG featuring a witch named Droyna who has traveled to the town of Refrain to explore a deadly dungeon that none who have entered have returned. Although she has her personal reasons, Droyna is in possession of a legendary book named Tractatus de Monstrum which has the power to create dolls who will fight for her as well as die for her.
Players will assume the role of the book and all the dolls created where they’ll be able to customize their party as they explore the dungeon and fight many different enemies. Gameplay is similar to other 3d dungeon crawlers, but Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk does feature a handful of unique gimmicks and fighting systems.
Recently, DualShockers had the opportunity to play the first 20-minutes of Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk in English to give a preview of what western fans can expect from the upcoming RPG. It might be obvious while watching, but the art is headed by Takehito Harada who’s work can be recognized in Disgaea and Phantom Brave. Also, the gameplay features the English dub which sounds professionally handled, but the game will have dual audio options.
