It’s no surprise to the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition community that Blanka was coming soon — that much was revealed months ago at Capcom Cup in Anaheim. However, a brand new trailer from Capcom announced that players can start using Blanka as early as next week.
Seen in the video below, the Brazillian-backed Blanka is as mobile as ever in combat. Originally debuted in Street Fighter II, Blanka is an otherwise feral human that is otherwise docile in nature — cherishing family above all else. According to Capcom’s description, his story in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will focus on a mysterious sales pitch to the Brazillian wonder for an action figure, of all things:
In SFV: AE, Blanka is living peacefully with his mother, and has adapted well to being introduced back into society. One day, a suspicious salesman approaches him and offers a way to make Blanka famous by mass producing a doll made in Blanka’s likeness. Will it work?
The trailer itself is far more focused on the actual gameplay, where it is clear Blanka is a powerful edition to the roster. V-Triggers showcase in the video include Jungle Dynamo and Lighting Beast and an electric-based Critical Art. Blanka will become available for download on February 20, 2018.
For those out of the loop, Blanka is the third character available in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s Season 3 line-up, with the first being Sakura. It’s been two years since the initial launch of Street Fighter V, and DualShockers provided a quick retrospective on how the game has changed — and, more importantly, improved — since what was initially offered at launch.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is currently available for PC and PS4; as mentioned above, Blanka will be coming on February 20, 2018. You can check out the brand new gameplay trailer below showing of his skillset:
