Today Compile Heart released a brand new trailer of its upcoming JRPG Death End re;Quest.
While the game may seem to be your usual waifu-filled Compile Heart JRPG at first sight, there appears to be more than meets the eye under the surface, in the form of some rather interesting combat mechanics.
Since it’s set in w virtual reality MMORPG and the protagonist is actually a programmer helping out the various heroines from outside of the game, the Code Jack mechanic simulates this by letting him influence their performance in several ways.
Even more interesting is the Install Genre gimmick, that lets our hero literally install a different genre into one of the heroines, letting them act like they were into a shooter, an action game, a puzzle game, and more, adding a lot of variety to the usual JRPG battles.
You can check out the trailer below. If you want to see more, you can enjoy another trailer showing more of the battle system, some recent screenshots, the charming opening cutscene, another gameplay trailer, an additional trailer showing more gameplay, a batch of artwork featuring the game’s waifus and their sexy glitch style, a gallery of screenshots showing more characters and mechanics, an older batch of screenshots with the same focus, and even more images.
Death end re;Quest was supposed to come out in Japan exclusively for PS4 on March 1st, but we just heard of a delay to April 12th yesterday morning.
