Today, Ubisoft Entertainment has announced that they are opening up a new development studio in Berlin, Germany in early 2018.

According to a press release, Ubisoft Berlin’s first project as a new studio will be to assist in the development of the upcoming open-world first-person shooter Far Cry 5, which is set in modern-day Montana; players take control of a sheriff deputy who finds himself in the middle of a violent conflict with a violent cult known as Eden’s Gate.

Instead of reporting to their parent company, Ubisoft Berlin will report to Ubisoft Blue Byte, another Ubisoft subsidiary best known for their work on For Honor, the upcoming Skull & Bones, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Additionally, Ubisoft Berlin will start off with a team of 50 people and will be led by Istvan Tajnay, a former employee at Blue Byte who served as the studio operations director.

Of course, this is not the first studio the French publisher has opened up; earlier this year, they announced the opening of another studio in Stockholm, France with a primary focus on providing more multi-platform AAA titles.

Currently, a specific date for Ubisoft Berlin’s opening has yet to be revealed other than “the beginning of 2018.” However, Far Cry 5 is set to be released on February 27th, 2018, on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
