Vitalina Batsarashkina wins gold during the Tokyo Olympics 2021 at the women’s 10m air pistol event all whilst wearing The Witcher medallion.
Witcher fans may love nothing more than equipping themselves with some silver because, after all, that’s what keeps those pesky monsters at bay but this superfan and all-around badass athlete at the Tokyo Olympics was very happy to get her hands on some gold.
Although some say that trinkets and lucky charms are all in your head, it seems that the Russian 10m air pistol competitor and Witcher fan, Vitalina Batsarashkina, might be onto something. Batsarashkina has worn her medallion twice now – once in 2016 where she won the silver medal whilst donning the witcher emblem on her pants coupled with Witcher shooting glasses and now winning gold while wearing the wolf around her neck.
It certainly seems that there’s a little bit of Kaer Morhen magic following the talented sportswoman.
For those who aren’t too sure what the hell I’m on about here – the medallion in question is a silver symbol wore by professional witchers in The Witcher franchise. It’s crafted to represent the school a witcher comes from as well as being super sensitive to magic – vibrating and tugging on the chain when spells are being cast or magical beings are present.
This certain event is a huge triumph for Batsarashkina taking the gold medal for the first time for the ‘ROC’ (the Russian Olympic Committee) at the Tokyo games due to Russia receiving a two-year ban from the World Anti-Doping Agency for its state-sponsored doping program.
While this isn’t the first time video games have slipped into Tokyo Olympics 2021 as we’ve seen music from Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Dragon Quest throughout the event, it’s certainly one of the coolest.
