The DBD MMR system has been re-activated last night for a new round of testing and monitoring. Make sure to check your hidden rating out before the system goes offline.
Running a skill-based, ranked matchmaking system is seemingly a nice idea for creating a competitive arena in multiplayer games. However, the method of its implementation is very important.

It’s been a while since Behavior Interactive, the development team behind Dead by Daylight, has been testing out a skill-based matchmaking system, but it’s not ready to launch just yet.
How Long the DBD MMR System Will Be Online?
Last night, the official Twitter account for Dead by Daylight revealed that the ranked matchmaking would be available for “a couple of days.” The system is now live and based on the developers it won’t be available for more than a few days.
If you attempt to play an online match, you will notice that the ranking system matches players by large gaps between their ranks. If you are a veteran in Dead by Daylight but your teammates’ ranks don’t reflect that, don’t worry. The MMR system is still in the testing phase and it’s usual to see some mismatched rates.
How the New System Could Affect the Matchmaking?
As the developer states, it’s possible to enter a match where a player with the rank of 1 has a team-mate of rank 20. The numbers are not the true indicators of the player skills in the new system. It’s going to use a brand new algorithm.
The new system tries to get the player’s skills and predict his performance in a match that he’s going to participate in.
The exact release date for the full launch of the DBD MMR system is yet to be announced by the developers. This is the second public test phase of the system.
Dead by Daylight is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Xbox Game Pass subscribers on consoles can play it for free.
