The visual novel genre of gaming has been around for quite some time now. One of the first anime-styled visual novels came to be back in the early 80s called Lolita, a seedy little game about getting a girl naked, followed closely by The Portopia Serial Murder Case, a murder mystery game where you search for clues and complete puzzles. These days, visual novels are just as popular as ever with intriguing titles like Doki Doki Literature Club and Hatoful Boyfriend. For those who enjoy story-driven experiences where you’re able to decide how the narrative unfolds, Minecraft Lovehunt could be right down your street.
What is Minecraft Lovehunt?
Minecraft Lovehunt is a small indie visual novel developed by Kio who also did all of the game’s gorgeous artwork. What’s interesting about Minecraft Lovehunt is that Kio has incorporated creators from the Dream Team, a group of YouTubers who create content about Minecraft plugins they coded, named Dream, George, and Sapnap. Set inside the world of Minecraft, the player has nine different endings to achieve that could see a whole manner of things happen as the narrative plays out.
Kio points out that the game does have flashing lights and also some language that may be upsetting. After each ending, the player must quit the game so that the ending counter works but hopefully, eventually, Kio will find a workaround to this. You’ll also find that if you mess around with the name input, you could stumble across an easter egg. To get the best experience of the visual novel’s navigation menu, Kio asks that players use the arrow keys and enter button due to a glitch that could see the game ending.
