Aniplex revealed for the first time live gameplay of Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan, the Demon Slayer game coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC The new Demon Slayer gameplay was revealed through the “Kimetsu Matsuri Online Anime 2nd Anniversary Festival” program on streaming service Abema TV. We’ve included the gameplay video below.
The Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan gameplay demo was played by Natsuki Hanae, who voices protagonist Tanjirō Kamado, and Hiro Shimono, who voices Zenitsu Agatsuma. The stream also featured Akari Kitō the seiyuu of Nezuko, and some of the developers from CyberConnnect2. They stressed out this is a demo and the game is still in development.
Most notably, the gameplay demo included five playable characters: Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Giyu Tomioka. These are the same characters confirmed in the previous screenshots. However, it was confirmed on stream the final game will include more characters.
The stream went on with a battle featuring Nezuko and Zenitsu Vs Tanjiro and Inosuke. We didn’t get to see Giyu Tomioka.
Analyzing the gameplay video teaches us several pieces of info on Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan:
There’s a guard system and unblockable throws, which are part of the basics for most fighting games.
Just like CC2 explained, the battles are 1 vs 1. However, you can also call in your tag partner character when in a pinch to get out of a combo. This works with a gauge which recharges over time, and the gauge has two levels. Similarly to games such as Marvel Vs Capcom, you can attack your opponent’s tag partner when they appear.
The Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan gameplay demo also revealed super moves/ ultimate moves of four characters:
- You can see Zenitsu’s ultimate at the 2:20 mark.
- Inosuke’s ultimate at 3:09
- Nezuko’s ultimate at 3:34
- Tanjiro’s ultimate at 5:17
Overall it seems pretty similar to the CyberConnect2 Naruto games. Lastly, before you start watching, keep in mind this is a reupload, so the gameplay has been mirrored.
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan Gameplay demo
Aniplex plans to launch Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan in 2021 in Japan. The game was not announced in the west yet but it’ll definitely come over. A Demon Slayer Mobile game is also in the works.
