Just last week, rumours began to circulate that battle royale Apex Legends would be hitting the Nintendo Switch on February 2. This came after an official YouTube trailer for the latest season stated: “On February 2nd, it will be possible to play on Switch at the same time as the start of Season 8”. The game’s publisher, EA, remained quiet and the message was removed from the trailer. Now, as seems to be the case recently, Amazon Japan has given a little more credibility to the rumour.

First noted by VGC, Amazon Japan has “Apex – Champion Edition” listed for release on the Nintendo Switch. The release date? February 2. While again, this is far from official confirmation, the dates lining up is a little suspicious. VGC has tried to reach EA for comment, however, they didn’t respond.

Apex Legends was officially revealed for the Nintendo Switch back in June. The title was confirmed during a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, alongside confirmation that cross-play would be arriving around the same time. The battle royale was initially scheduled for a Fall 2020 release, however, was unfortunately pushed to this year.

The game, which was one of 2019’s biggest surprise releases, just entered its eighth season. The new season has added new weapons, challenges, map changes and a new character, Fuse. Fuse is an Australian with a love for explosions and is voiced by Ben Prendergast. The title is facing a little scrutiny, however, as indie studio NOWWA claims that Fuse looks an awful lot like a character from their upcoming shooter BulletVille.

Apex Legends is available right now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. We’ll update you with news on the Nintendo Switch release as soon as it gets confirmed.
