Well, we had a feeling that we might soon learn more about those PlayStation branded Travis Scott sneakers that had been teased a couple of weeks back and new details have now finally emerged. Unfortunately, if you’re hoping to cop a pair for yourself, the chances of doing so seem slim to none.
Late last night, Travis Scott held his “PS5: Unboxing Reimagined” showcase over on YouTube and the presentation was pretty darn strange, to say the least. The video found Scott at first sitting in the middle of the desert where he watched a video highlighting a number of games that are set to come to the PS5 in the future. After the console itself magically materialized in front of Scott, the video then transitioned to another sequence where Scott was seen giving away some PS5 consoles to a couple of youngsters. After a performance by James Blake (???) and a tribute to the late rapper Pop Smoke, the video ended with Scott walking into the screen he had been playing PS5 games on.
You can watch the whole showcase right here:
But what about those shoes, you ask? Well, after the stream ended, Scott’s website updated with a load of new PlayStation-branded Cactus Jack merchandise being up for sale. Sadly, the sneakers, in particular, aren’t for sale by standard means and are instead part of a raffle that the site is holding. The most baffling part of all though is that this raffle will only result in five winners.
Yes, you read that correctly. If you were hoping to cop these PlayStation and Travis Scott-branded Nike Dunk Low’s, well, it seems like you may have a better chance of getting struck by lightning. On the plus side, if you do get pulled as a winner, you won’t have to pay anything for the shoes as you might in other sneaker raffles — they’ll be entirely free.
While I’m not the biggest fan of Travis Scott himself, I really was hoping to snag these shoes once they released. The fact that only five pairs are being given away though and surely hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people will sign-up to win these, it seems I’ll just have to be content with the sneakers currently sitting in my closet.
If you’d like to sign-up for yourself, though, the raffle is still live right now and can be entered on Scott’s website. In the meantime, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that a wider release ends up happening down the road.
