Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is a highly anticipated…well, flight simulator that’s set to be arriving at some point in the future. It’s also a game that has some remarkable details, with fancy clouds, rain on the windows, and making use of real-world data to generate a realistic atmosphere. Thanks to the following in-game snaps, we can see exactly how realistic the game looks in comparison to the real-world locations that are available to fly past in-game.
These images come from Utherellus, who posted some images of real-world locations and snapped the same location within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Switzerland, France, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico, and the USA are the countries specifically shown. You can check out the pictures below and see the stunning realism. If you’re confused about which image is the in-game image, you’ll just have to take a guess.

There’s some fantastic shots in there such as the Château de Chambord that’s in France, and there are some stunning aerial shots over the mountains of New Zeland. And as we’re a New York, US-based site, you can see the iconic Statue of Liberty.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is reported to be a whopping 150GB of HDD, and there’s an option to use real-world weather, using data with 60 different layers of real-time cloud data and 20 layers of other data such as humidity, pressure, temperature, and wind, which is then injected into the games engine. In addition, while players will be able to fly from the first-person perspective within their cockpit, it looks as if the studio will be introducing VR support after claiming it’s “very high” on their priorities list.
There’s a closed beta due to be taking place sometime in July, and while the full game will be heading to Xbox One and PC, no release date has been specified as of yet.
