In a report from GameReactor.au, Supermassive Games’ Pete Samuels has already had discussions about what the developer could do with the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller.
“The whole tactile thing – as much as we can transfer what you’d expect the character’s experience to be directed back to the player, I think the better attachment you feel to the characters,” says Samuels, Supermassive’s CEO. “The voice controls that we did before were VR so it was first-person, so it made a lot of sense to actually make your choices [using your voice] because it was you in the game – in the third-person perspective it perhaps makes less sense. But we’re already having some discussions […] about some things we might do, some things that we might incorporate into the game having seen the announcement [of the DualSense].”
After being announced last August, Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures: Little Hope has received a new trailer this week alongside a release sometime this summer. Little Hope is the latest game in The Dark Pictures horror anthology which started with The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan last August. This time around, Little Hope centers around a new cast of characters and their small town which has a thing for historic witch trials.
“A new generation of consoles is always exciting. Streaming platforms are massively exciting, as they try to broaden the gaming audience, and we think what we do plays to that in terms of the types of experience we build, bringing film watchers and TV viewers into our world,” continues Samuels. “There’s so much to be excited about over the next couple of years.”
PlayStation’s DualSense controller was announced last week and includes new features such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a longer battery life, and a built-in microphone. In addition to Samuels, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has also spoken highly of the controller and its capabilities.
The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is set to release this summer on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the game’s new trailer below.
