The Switch continues to impress developers from all walks of the industry. Apparently, The Flame in the Flood had its most successful sales day in 2017 on the Nintendo Switch earlier this week — including its launch on PS4. The news comes thanks to the game’s Publishing Director Simon Byron of Curve Digital who took to Twitter to announce the successful launch.
What a week: Flame in the Flood has absolutely smashed it on Switch and Bomber Crew is our most wishlisted game prior to launch ever.

More specifically, speaking to outlet MCV Byron had this to say:
Indeed, it’s fair to say it’s had its best ever day on any console since we’ve been publishing it, beating any other format we have launched on. It’s done just under half of our first full month forecast in a day
Worth noting, Curve Digital came on as the Publisher after the launch of the original PC and Xbox One release, but before The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition came out on PlayStation 4. So while this isn’t indicative of the best one-day sale for the entire game’s history, Nintendo Switch has (at the least) broken the record for 2017 sales — including when it launched on PS4. It is certainly good news for the burgeoning indie market on Nintendo Switch.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Flame in the Flood, it’s a roguelike survival adventure game developed by The Molasses Flood. You play as a young girl named Scout. Her dog, Aesop, will be your only companion and he can sense danger as well as fetch supplies.
You use a raft to traverse up a large river that appeared as a result of an apocalyptic flood that turned the land into a bunch of islands you can explore. Like other survival titles you’ll need to focus on resource management and Scout’s thirst, hunger, and warmth.
We had the opportunity to review the game back in early 2016 and thought it was a great purchase “for anyone looking to diversify their catalog with a short, challenging, and artistically crafted indie title.” DualShockers’ Lou Contaldi also sat down with developer The Molasses Flood’s Co-Founder and level designer, Forrest Dowling, who discussed future titles, creating an indie soundtrack and more.
The Flame in the Flood is available now on Nintendo Switch, as well as PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.
