Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been selling like mad, although the number of eggs being dealt out across people’s islands has been madder, and has been making those usually calm players mad. It’s okay though because Nintendo appears to have noticed the sea of mad and has reduced the spawn rate.
As part of the upcoming Bunny Day event, a person inside of a bunny suit arrived on the island and hid eggs everywhere. These eggs, of course, ended up being a bit too overkill for many players, myself included. Eggs appeared on trees, in balloons, disguised as fish, hidden in rocks, tucked into tree trunks. These eggs are used to craft special seasonal recipes, so it makes sense why so many are around.
As part of the latest 1.1.4 update, Nintendo has now adjusted the spawn rate for some eggs until April 11. This reduced drop will change up on April 12, when eggs will become easier to find as Bunny Day goes fully underway.
Also included in the update is a fix for Flick, the bug collecting, artistic visitor, who would give players the wrong model for the Platinum Kogana/Scarab Beetle when commissioned to create the art project.
At current, the patch notes are in Japanese but have been condensed by OatmealDome. The update page also specifies that there is no “local communication compatibility with Ver. 1.1.3 or earlier.” So players are strongly advised to update the game should they wish to continue playing with friends or family.
I’m glad the egg rate has been reduced but the more I think about it, the event is a fun thing for the younger audience to get busy hunting for eggs. I now feel bad that our constant moaning about eggs has made the hunt harder for the children. Are we the monsters? Is the bunny actually a lovely person trying to spread joy?
The previous patch for the game fixed up the missing balloons bug that occurred when players had hit 300 balloons and unlocked an achievement for doing so.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch.
