Nippon Ichi Software revealed a bunch of new screenshots, info and a trailer for Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume, a new IP action RPG coming to PS4 and Switch. Long story short the game is about a male or female protagonist who ends up in hell and gets possessed by a cute girl named Doku Musume. Together, they infiltrate other hells created by various cute girls in order to purify poison swamps. The character design is by Madoka Hanagi, who worked on The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2 and The Princess Guide among other things. I’d suggest first reading the first details about the game’s story, game systems and characters in our previous article before delving into this one.
Here are the new details and character profiles we learned alongside the screenshots:
Doku Musume, voiced by Manami Numakura. An amnesic ghost girl who ends up possessing the protagonist in hell. She asks them to help her purify hell from poison swamps, but it also seems like she’s scheming to completely take over the protagonist’s body.
This is the protagonist, male and female version. They’re a human who didn’t die and yet somehow ended up in hell. They don’t remember their past, and they work together with Doku Musume to purify the poison swamps and get back to earth. We didn’t hear about how you can pick a female protagonist last time, and this is pretty nice.
These are monsters born from the strong negative thoughts of the girls living in hell. There are various types of them, and some hide in poison swamps to attack the protagonist.
This is Moufuku no Shoujo, literally Girl in Mourning Clothes. Just like the protagonist, she’s possessed by a Doku Musume, called Shiro Doku Musume / White Poison Girl, and they’re trying to purify the hells from poison swamps. She considers the protagonist her rival but often helps them out.
Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume has many dialogues between the protagonist and Doku Musume, and your dialogue choices change the story.
The battle system requires players to defeat enemies and purify poison swamps. To do so, you can control Doku Musume, and everything enclosed within her path will get purified, and enemies will be destroyed. However, you gradually lose HP when in a poison swamp. The protagonist can also get new weapons to fight, and switch to Third Person Shooter mode with Doku Musume possessing their arm and changing into a gun.

Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume launches on June 25 in Japan on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It’ll probably get announced in the west at some point.
