Insurgency: Sandstorm is going to be heading to consoles this year as announced by developer New World Interactive and publisher Focus Home Interactive. The online shooter will be heading to PS4 and Xbox One in August.

Back when Source Engine mods were all the rage, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat was released in 2007 and saw players head to a middle east setting, pitting American armed forces against Insurgents. The game was eventually turned into a standalone title Insurgency. Since then, the game has moved over to the Unreal Engine 4 to create the sequel, Insurgency: Sandstorm.

In the first year of release on PC, there were reportedly over 1 million players that joined the game. The game is also renowned for its realism with limited ammo, deadly impacts, and high-quality sound design.

A new trailer has also launched to show off what players can expect from the console version of the first-person shooter. Players can work together in co-op gameplay and objective-based PvP matches as well as customizing their characters and weapons.

We had a look at the game back when it was in beta in 2018 and had a look at the gameplay and teamwork focus. It was also announced that all post-launch content coming to the game would be free and that there would be no loot boxes.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is available on PC, but will be heading to PS4 and Xbox One on August 25, 2020.
