The Nintendo Switch is no stranger to video game ports. The ability to take AAA titles with you wherever you go has made the allure of porting old favorites incredibly tempting to consumers. It appears that Atlus may now be toying with the idea of bringing over their long-running Shin Megami Tensei, and spin-offs, to Nintendo’s money maker.
In their yearly survey to consumers, Atlus’ final question has piqued the interest of many fans. Specifically, it asks that if their previous games were ported to the Switch, with no additional new elements, would you want to play them? The options include a long list of many of the companies most memorable titles.

- “Persona 3,” “Persona 3 FES,” and “Persona 3 Portable”
- “Persona 4” and “Persona 4 Golden”
- “Persona 5” and “Persona 5 Royal”
- “Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne”
- “Shin Megami Tensei IV”
- “Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse”
- “Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner” series
- “Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers”
- “Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha” series
- “Etrian Odyssey” series
- “13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim”
- “Persona Q”
- “Catherine: Full Body”
- “Odin Sphere Leifthrasir”
- “Dragon’s Crown Pro”
This is far from a confirmation that these games are all going to come to Switch. However, it is a solid estimation of what games that Atlus thinks they should port over. Games such as Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 have been begged for on Switch for as long as the system has been out. And many others have already had successful lives on older handhelds that could easily find an arguably more successful life over on the Switch. Other studios have already proven that you can make the jump from two-screen to one, making many of the amazing DS and 3DS titles just as viable as the rest.
It is a bit disappointing about the lack of inclusion of the original Megami Tensei, and Shin Megami Tensei titles that came prior to the PlayStation. While they may be a bit rough for today’s standards, the idea of having a collection that showcases the franchises’ origins would be beautiful. I am grateful though that they are looking at the first two Persona titles though; they are games which I feel often get left out of discussions surrounding the Persona series.
The Switch will be receiving some Persona regardless with the soon-to-be released Persona 5 Scramble over in Japan.
