Apex Legends Season 4 clearly introduced Revenant as the new legend, but it’s possible that another legend was also revealed. Hidden in plain sight, this possible legend will be directly tied to Revenant and his violent actions that took place in the Season 4 trailer.
Labeled as “the greatest hitman the Mercenary Syndicate ever had,” Revenant is shown to be on a mission to kill a thief named Marcos Andrade. The mission is a bloody one as Revenant takes several lives, including Andrade and his wife. However, one survivor remains: Andrade’s daughter, who ends the trailer curled over her father’s body, glaring into the camera with rage.
Who is this girl, and how is she important to the Apex Legends storyline?
According to the Apex Legends Twitter account, the Season 4 trailer follows a 25-year-old cold case. Shoot back to the present time and the girl seen in the video should now be in her early 30s. The focus on this mysterious character as the trailer closes is an obvious hint at a future story, but there is more evidence to claim that this girl could soon be diving into the arena.
Data mining has previously revealed potential legend nicknames, and the name “Loba” immediately caught the eye of Apex Legends fans. Looking into the origin of the name, Loba is the feminine form of “wolf” in the Portuguese language. This could correlate directly with the small wolf statue Andrade gives his daughter just before his death.
More information provided by data miners details the Loba character as a thief who may possibly utilize abilities centered around stealth mechanics. Considering that Marcos Andrade and his wife were thieves, it would make sense that this girl would hone those skills to carry out her revenge in the arena.
Outside of data mining, a tweet showcasing an Apex Legends motion capture session may have also revealed Loba’s involvement. Tina Sanchez, a gameplay code producer at Sony, shared some motion capture screens that included an actress sporting a cane as she poses for pictures. Could the wolf totem given to the girl in the trailer be the handle of the cane? Could the wolf be directly related to Loba’s abilities?
Not much else is known about the orphan in the trailer, but fans have already latched onto the girl’s connection to Revenant. Whether she is meant to be a future legend or not, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of role she will play as Season 4 progresses.
Apex Legends kicks off Season 4’s “Assimilation” on February 4, 2020, on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
