In a pretty wild turn of events, Endemic Esports’ Brad “Scar” Vaughn defeats Echo Fox’s Dominique “SonicFox” McLean in the Mortal Kombat 11 Grand Finals at Combo Breaker.
Although he may have had some close calls, Scar was able to stay on the winner’s bracket until the Grand Finals. Maining Sonya Blade, who is widely considered one of the best fighters in the game, he managed to take out every competitor he faced, including PXP’s A F0xy Grampa, Tweedy, and Dark Sided’s Waz.
SonicFox’s journey to the Grand Finals was not as flawless. Beginning the Top 8 portion of the competition in the loser’s bracket, the crowd favorite overcame some unfavorable odds. While he was “maining” Jacqui Briggs, he switched things up with Erron Black, a fighter he is very well known for playing. In SonicFox’s match against Noble’s Semiij, both Erron Black and Jacqui Briggs could not get past the opposition’s Kitana. With an unexpected pick, Skarlet gave SonicFox the win in a reverse sweep.
The Grand Finals only saw SonicFox use Jacqui Briggs against Scar’s Sonya Blade. Although Scar took the first game, SonicFox won the next two. Just when it looked like SonicFox would be taking the set, Scar comes back in some heated matches and winning the Grand Finals.
After the event, both SonicFox and Scar took to Twitter talking about the results and looking forward to the future.
