The first is From Dust, a god game developed by a small team from Ubisoft Montpellier and designed by Eric Chahi. Described as a spiritual successor to Populous, you assume the role of a god-like entity where you shape the environment to save a tribe from extinction and pave the way for prosperity. It released in 2011 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC and was part of Xbox’s Summer of Arcade lineup for that year. We actually have a review for the game and can check that out to see what we thought of From Dust.
The second is Costume Quest, an RPG by Double Fine Productions. Set on Halloween, you play as one of two fraternal twins, Reynold and Wren, and go trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. The gameplay consists of both adventure elements and turn-based RPG combat. Costume Quest originally released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in 2010. We do not have a review for this game but I hear pretty good things about it.
Introduced back in November 2015, Xbox One’s backward compatibility feature now has over 550 games in its ever-growing list of playable Xbox 360 and original Xbox games. Some games also receive Xbox One X enhancements, like Fable 2 and Splinter Cell Blacklist. The last game to get added to the backward compatibility list was Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden 2 which originally released for Xbox 360 in 2008.
In other Xbox One related news, Platinum Games studio head Atsushi Inaba claims that both Microsoft and Platinum Games were at fault for Scalebound‘s cancellation.
