The action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma has, over the years, gradually built up its reputation as a cult classic action-RPG thanks to its compelling mix of challenging combat and open-world exploration. While the game itself has been released on both last generation and current generation consoles, it appears that in the near future fans of the RPG will get to experience the series in a whole new way on the small screen.
Netflix has announced that the network will be partnering with several anime studios and production companies in an effort to expand its current slate of anime titles hosted on the network, with one of those new series to include an anime adaptation of Dragon’s Dogma. No release date or window, however, was announced at this time for the series.
The series will be produced by Sublimation in partnership with Netflix, and will offer “an original anime series” based around the acclaimed video game. The Dragon’s Dogma adaptation would join other series that Netflix has in its production pipeline, including Altered Carbon: Resleeved–an anime spin-off series of its sci-fi original series–and Ghost in the Shell: SAC _2045.
Outside of the series’ announcement, Netflix also detailed that the Dragon’s Dogma series will follow “a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart,” while along the way, the man will be brought back to life as an “Arisen” in his journey.
Other than the recent revelation that Dragon’s Dogma will be coming to Netflix in an anime adaptation, it was also revealed earlier in the year that the game’s enhanced edition, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, will be coming to Nintendo Switch next month, giving a great opportunity for those that haven’t played the acclaimed RPG a chance to experience it for the first time.
