It is safe to say that Devil May Cry 5 has been both a success critically and commercially. The internet has given the game glowing reviews and apparently it is selling quite well for Capcom already.
As noted by Twisted Voxel, Devil May Cry 5 had the second best launch in Capcom history behind the incredibly successful Monster Hunter World. The latest rendition into the demon ass-kicking series had a peak player count that surpassed 77K on Steam as of yesterday. This puts it ahead of Resident Evil 2, which had a peak concurrent player count of 74k on Steam. The game is about to join some elite territory as one of the top 5 concurrent player counts for Japanese games on Steam. Other games that are currently on that list are Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Metal Gear Solid V, and Monster Hunter World.
Even though this was a great launch for Devil May Cry 5, there probably won’t be another game that will touch Monster Hunter World’s numbers for quite some time. At the time of launch, that title had more than 300k concurrent players.
After many years of long droughts, Capcom, the last couple of years, has dropped banger after banger. I have to say, I agree with the company’s CEO. Capcom is back.
Devil May Cry 5 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you are a bit uncertain of if you should pick the game up, check out DualShockers’ review. If you are interested in purchasing Devil May Cry 5, you can do so right here through Amazon.
