Earlier today, rumors began circulating that the console release of Overkill’s The Walking Dead had been canceled. This rumor began over on Reddit where one user said that their pre-order for the PS4 version of the game had been canceled through the PlayStation Store with the reason for the cancellation of the order stating that the game was no longer planned to arrive.
Despite this claim, 505 Games, the publisher of Overkill’s The Walking Dead on consoles, has stated that the game isn’t canceled at all. Releasing a statement via Twitter, 505 reiterated that the console version of Overkill’s TWD has merely had its development delayed, which isn’t anything new. Starbreeze, the owner of Overkill’s TWD IP and the publisher of the title on PC, announced last month that the console release had been pushed back.
So now the question becomes whether or not the original Reddit post in question was a hoax, or if it was merely an error on the side of Sony. Either way, if you were looking forward to getting your hands on Overkill’s The Walking Dead on console, you’ll still be able to do so.
For now, Overkill’s The Walking Dead doesn’t have a release date on PS4 or Xbox One, but we’ll keep you posted once we learn more.
We just wanted to clear the position on the OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead on console and confirm that the game has not been cancelled, purely postponed whilst development is on-going. We will share further news as soon as possible.
