A Plague Tale: Innocence from developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive have today treated us to some delightful plague-filled screenshots that we can all soak in while we are having our breakfast or lunch. Although, to be honest, they aren’t bad – most of them are actually quite stunning and it highlights how beautiful and vast this game truly is. I’m very much looking forward to playing this title when it arrives in 2019.
In case this is your first time hearing about this intriguing upcoming title, allow me to give you a quick run-down: It’s 1349 and you follow orphaned siblings Amicia and Hugo during the height of the Black Death in France. The game takes you on a journey of adventure, action, and stealth as try to escape the Inquisition soldiers while also trying to stay alive as the cover of night approaches and swarms of hungry, flesh-eating rats sniff out their next victim.
Environments range through medieval castles and villages, catacombs, wasteland battlefields, and verdant forests. Amicia and Hugo will react with real emotion to the situations around them, be it Hugo’s fear at his unfamiliar surroundings or the determination of Amicia to save her little brother.
If you haven’t already watched 16 minutes of uncut gameplay or Amicia and Hugo surrounded by terrifying rats, my advice is to hop over and allow yourself to be captivated, as well as a little scared.
A Plague Tale: Innocence will be arriving sometime in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
