Vertigo Games have announced another VR title, Skyworld, which will be releasing on PlayStation VR, Oculus, Steam, and the Windows Store sometime in early 2019 for $39.99.

Skyworld will be a strategy game combining turn-based strategy and real-time battles both set in animated miniature worlds. A story-based campaign will bring you across eight different worlds in VR as you build an army and manage resources. In the overworld you create buildings and units to move around turn-by-turn and then engage in real-time battles against other players. Armies are made up of different elements: land, air, ranged, and spells. Skirmish maps can be played solo or against other players online. The transition between overworld and skirmish is done by flipping the table housing the setting over, and lets you move over and around the map as you wish in order to gain a better position and move units about.

Skyworld’s UI has been created for the VR perspective and can be adjusted depending on player preference. This allows the default interaction to be very physical, such as picking up units and moving levers, but allows for players to also enjoy just sitting in a chair making moves with minimal neck movement. Vertigo Games also released a new gameplay trailer for its VR puzzle game A Fisherman’s Tale, another Virtual Reality title coming to the same platforms sometime this year. They are also the developers of the first person shooter VR title Arizona Sunshine, which unfortunately did not perform well on PlayStation VR. Hopefully Skyworld and A Fisherman’s Tale have improved since that shooter.
